Have you ever stopped to consider what it would cost (financially and reputationally) if you were to experience a fly infestation in your business? Rentokil understands how challenging implementing an integrated fly control program can be, and how much damage a fly infestation can cause. According to our research, 45% of businesses that have suffered fly infestations in the past five years report moderate to high levels of concern over the loss of income. Rentokil is constantly thinking about innovative ways to save you money and deliver integrated fly control services.
Integrated pest control:
The principles of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) inform everything we do at Rentokil. IPM is a holistic approach to pest control, designed to eliminate the root cause of pest infestations. It includes understanding pest life cycle, behaviour, biology and environment and combining that knowledge with proofing strategies, control strategies and ongoing monitoring. IPM aims to effectively manage pest infestations economically and with the least possible risk to people, property, and the environment.
Integrated fly control:
Applied to fly control, an IPM approach means that an integrated fly control solution will not just consist of electric fly killers (EFK’s). For the best results, a combination of strategies (such as proofing, spraying and baiting) must be combined with the use of EFK’s. This is where the expertise of our colleagues really comes to the fore: in crafting a truly integrated solution to get to the bottom of your fly problem, in the most environmentally friendly and cost-effective manner possible.
Lumnia: Rentokil’s range of LED fly killers
Rentokil spent three years analysing LED technology and testing its new units before feeling confident that the benefits of lower-cost LEDs and enhanced performance could be leveraged for our customers. In early 2017 Rentokil proudly announced the launch of our new fly killer range, Lumnia.
Lumnia is the first electric fly killer range in the world to use LED lighting – rather than traditional fluorescent tubes – and is the result of working in partnership with a leading manufacturer of LED. The switch from traditional fluorescent tubes allows for an estimated energy reduction of 60%.
No matter the size of your business – from small cafés to large food manufacturing sites – there is a Lumnia device to suit your requirements. Lumnia units are also designed with front panel louvres that mean you do not see the fly catch – unlike competitor units where the unsightly fly catch is visible to the both employees and customers.
Launched in 2017, Lumnia Standard was the first of the Lumnia units to market. It’s suited to a wide range of businesses including the foodservice, food retail, hospitality, and healthcare sectors.
The Lumnia Ultimate has been specifically designed for high dependency environments, including food processing, hospitals, pharmaceutical and general industry sites. Ultimate also boasts 3 black LED lamps which are proven to be 30% more effective at catching flies.
The Lumnia Compact is suited for small-to-medium sized, low-risk businesses. Compact is both highly effective and one of the lowest energy-consuming units on the market. Its neat look makes it an excellent choice for locations where front-of-house fly control is required.
Our fly bait box has been designed to form part of an integrated fly control offering. It specifically targets flies external breeding sites. The unit requires no electricity, which means you have numerous placement options. We do – however – recommend that you deploy it in flies preferred breeding sites, such as refuse areas. By doing so you will automatically reduce the number of flies that make it into your premises.
If used in conjunction with adequate fly screening (another weapon in the arsenal of integrated fly control) bait boxes can be pivotal in reducing the risk of flies entering your property.
