This seasons fly control solutions

Summer season is synonymous with fly season. The irritation and nuisance created by flies combined with the damage of foodstuff and spread of diseases, escalates the need to curb these infestations before they expand.

During the summer season the high temperatures provide a catalyst to the breeding cycle of flies. The shortening of the breeding cycle results in infestations increasing rapidly.

The rapid expansion of our cities has brought with it the onslaught of increased waste and pollution. Waste management is on the increase, with big cities, disposing of approximately 6 tons of garbage daily. This is paradise to flies, with ideal conditions for breeding.

For effective fly control, an integrated management program has to be implemented. Fly control program does not merely involve the use of a fly control unit.

At Rentokil, our years of expertise in this field, has resulted in the development of an integrated management program for fly control. Our program is based on the principals of ERD.

Eliminate the Flying insect entry. Ensure relevant proofing work is carried out.

Restrict the Flying insect by removing their breeding sites.

Destroy - Rentokil will apply the appropriate fly control program.

Rentokil designs a fly control program that is unique to a customer’s environment risks and needs. The program itself uses a combination of chemicals and fly units to eradicate the infestation.

Rentokil fly units, called the Luminos range, are propriety products and utilize a unique concept of “encapsulation “.

The Luminos 4 and Luminos 3 offer discreet, modern designs combined with usage of highly attractive UV tubes.

The uniqueness of the unit is in the “encapsulation” which is provided by the rotation of the self adhesive film that is located in the unit.

This state-of-the art contraption rotates the film, which is controlled by a timer.

The flying insect is attracted to the light emitted from the UV tubes, once the insect reaches the unit; it is “captured” by the highly adhesive film. The film is then rotated, thereby encapsulating the insect .Unlike the zapper unit, which creates secondary infestations due to insect fragments being dispersed from this action, the Luminos unit completely wraps the insect. Via rotation, a new “fresh “piece of film is rolled onto the surface. This “self maintenance “ feature of the unit makes it a far more superior unit than the glue board technology or zapper units that are currently used in the market.

Our service technicians monitor and inspect the units at regular intervals and replace adhesive films when needed.

The encapsulating mechanism provides significant benefits to the Health & Safety sensitive user and in areas where food is being processed or handled.

HACCP compliancy is becoming ever increasing in our industries – the use of Luminos range as part of the fly control program can assist in attaining compliance.

The South African market has been over the past few years expanded largely due to the insurgence of SMMEs .These businesses have similar risks and needs; however the obstacle that is continually encounted is budgetry constraints.

To accommodate this market, Rentokil has extended it’s Luminos range to include a the Luminos1 which can be included in fly control programs for this market.

No matter what your fly problem is, Rentokil has a solution for you. Contact our offices for a FREE SURVEY and you may soon find out that fly infestations, are a distant memory this summer.
